Week in Declo, Idaho

Cousins

Parker, Jace, Rachel, Cameron, Caroline, Pierce

The Parade

Wednesday, August 15, was the Fair & Rodeo Parade

Cotton Candy...YUM!

Cotton Candy leftovers...YUM!

My Grandma was the oldest Rodeo Queen at the Fair. Queen in 1939. My grandpa chauffered her through the parade in this WWII jeep. I got to paint the letters on the metal sign hanging on the sides of the jeep. :0)

I've decided Jace looks more like Cameron... :0)

The City of Rocks

The City of Rocks is a national park about 40 minutes from Declo. There are tons of cool rock formations to climb. Many of the rocks require climbing equipment, but there are definitely some for light climbing.

We spent our time at Bath Rock.

The boys loved it! Parker liked finding rocks to throw.

Cameron loved climbing. He almost slid down the rock once, but held on and yelled for help. Clint rescued him. Cam was a more careful climber after this actualization of mortality.

Nanna hiking with Park.

Clint had a great time. He told us all about the "baths" (pools of water) on the top of Bath Rock.

I started to climb, but ended up feeding Jace for most of the time instead. Cam, a budding photographer, took this lovely picture.

My sisters Valerie and Melanie with their girls Caroline (5 months) and Rachel (1 year old). Cousin Pierce (3 years old) is off to the right.

Melanie wore sandals on the trip. After getting to City of Rocks, she realized she had shoes in her car. However, she had no socks. We found some creative substitutes for her in our van--a McDonalds sock and a roll of gauze. :0)

We had fun, but, sadly, it was short-lived. The wind and rain came; we left.

On the way home we stopped to see Elder Haight's family's house. He lived in Oakley, which is near my parent's house as well.

On the River
I grew up with the Snake River in my back yard. It is awesome! Of course we had to spend a portion of almost every day in the water.

The big boys on the tube.

Parker loved the jet skis!

Jace didn't spend much time in the water. He spent much of his time talking with Nanna.
