October review

Here's some pictures to update you on our lives the past month or so.

Oct. 10--Fieldtrip with Cam's class to G&M Pumpkin Patch. There was a cool hay maze, a corn pit (like a sand box but with corn kernals), a hay ride, a corn classroom to learn about corn, and, of course, pumpkins! Corn kernals kept popping up (ha ha--the pun was unintentional) in different places throughout the rest of that day. I guess Jace's pockets were full when we left the pit.

Oct. 10--Dublin High's Homecoming Parade and football game. We walked with the Murray Elementary Cougars in the parade and went to the game that night (Go, DHS Gaels!). We lost, but it was fun to watch. (Jace was sleeping at our friends' house.)

Oct. 18--Fieldtrip with Cam's class to Mt. Diablo to do some rock climbing at Rock City. Cam found the highest perch available. And promptly fell. We'd been at Rock City all of 5 minutes. He was okay, though, and wasn't too traumatized--he did a reinactment of how he rolled and slid down the rock. The picture shows him sitting at the bottom of the rock when his dramatization was finished. (In all fairness, Cam is a REALLY good climber...usually. This was just an "off" moment for him.)

October 20--Carving pumpkins for Family Home Evening! Parker designed the eyes, Jace did the nose, and Cam drew the mouth. About 1/2 hour after we put the pumpkin out, we found the snail chomping away at our creation! We decided to sprinkle an experimental salt ring around the pumpkin to keep the snails away (salt+snail=shrivled, dried up snail) It worked! (The snail in the picture had a buddy on the way--the friend was about 2 feet away, which, converted into snail traveling time, probably equals two days or so, right?--but after I removed the glutonous snail from our pumpkin, neither of them braved the salt ring of death. Though, I also set a piece of cut pumpkin in the bushes for them. That might have skewed our results of the experiment.)

Jace serenaded us on the piano as we finished carving the pumpkin. :0)

October 29, 2008--Fieldtrip with Cam's class to Adventure Playground. The kids get hammers, nails, saws, paint and brushes, and then they build whatever, wherever. There are fun forts, cargo net webs, a zip line, and other fun recycled things.

October 25--Halloween! We went to the Stake Carnival/Trunk-or-Treat night. Clint was in charge of the coin toss booth. We ate yummy food and visited all the carnival booths, then we headed outside to do trunk-or-treating. We had theme costumes this year--Pokemon. Clint and I were Pokemon trading cards, Jace was a Poke ball, Parker was a Pokemon trainer named ASH, and Cam was Shieldon--a battling Pokemon. Fun!
October 31--Cam's Halloween party at school and Trunk-or-Treating at our ward building. Grandma and Grandpa came! It was fun!! The Shieldon helmet is homemade. Fun challenge! Grandpa decided being Shieldon looked like too much fun to pass up--the helmet is one size fits all!!

Cam has so much fun at school! And the other two get to benefit from it! What lucky boys! You have too much fun (if that's even possible!)! Let's see how many exclamation marks I can use in one comment!
