For the last month, Parker has been wearing glasses that were held together with tape, thanks to his younger brother we've affectionately renamed Bam-Bam. (Jace is very strong and likes to throw, pull, push, or hit objects. He pulled the arm off of Park's glasses one day in December. Four days later he pulled the second arm off.) We tried super glue, hot glue, Scotch tape, electrical tape and masking tape. Despite our best efforts, Park's glasses worked better for his cheeks than for his eyes, as they clung to the end of his nose most of the time. He always had his head cocked back to look through the lenses. But he didn't want to wear the sport ties that hold glasses onto your head. We tried two different kinds, and he didn't approve of either.Park visited the eye doctor when we got back from Idaho, and this past week Parker got his new glasses and a new prescription--+5.50 in both eyes this time (previous lenses were +4.00 in right eye and +4.50 in left). We went with Titanium memory frames with 180 degree swivel springs. I doubt they're Jace-proof, but maybe, just maybe, we can keep this pair around a few months. Here's to three pairs of glasses in 6 months!
Park's only requirement for this pair was that they be blue. He didn't care what they looked like otherwise. And, thanks to the Mills for directing us to zennioptical.com! We got these frames and lenses shipped for $34! Maybe we should buy another pair to use as a decoy for Bam-Bam.

This story sound very familiar to me!! We are on the 3rd pair of glasses as well for Bryson, Haylee sat on the first pair and ripped the 2nd pair off of his face!! You've got to love it!! Parker looks very cute in his new glasses!! We are going to have to check out that web site!! Glad to see you guys are doing good!!
Cute new glasses! I just got some myself. I've never known anyone who's had a prescription even close to mine before. I'm a +6.0 in both eyes- seriously not good vision. Good luck keeping them in one piece. My kids broke my other pair and I wore them for a few months with only one side- you know the thing that goes behind your ear. I don't know what that's called. They balanced ok but it was time to finally break down and get new ones.
i can just imagine this poor little orphan child with taped glasses with his poor little head cocked back to look out his broken little glasses...so sad, poor Park! Funny post, you are a good writer :)
